Multi-energy production

Hydrogen formed over geological time deep underground, also known as geological or white hydrogen. It is a potentially low-cost, zero-emissions fuel source that does not require electrolysis.

Forms of hydrogen produced using fossil fuels such as coal or natural gas, resulting in unmitigated carbon emissions.

The process used to produce green hydrogen by splitting water using electricity.

Grand-Est (Lorraine mining basin, Eastern France)

A planned pilot site to be identified and built in the Grand-Est Region for locally producing and recovering natural hydrogen based on exploration results from the Trois-Évêchés Permit.

An exclusive mining exploration permit applied for by FDE to search for and explore natural hydrogen in the Lorraine mining basin. The permit covers 2,254 square kilometers in the Grand-Est Region.

A research and development project about Lorraine gas resources carried out by the University of Lorraine and CNRS in partnership with FDE. The project deployed innovative measurement programs to detect and quantify natural hydrogen in geological formations.
